Maxi-Cosi Penguin Infant Car Seat
The Maxi-Cosi is extremely popular in Europe, and is just starting to catch on in the United States. It has a weighted base that remains in the car, and the seat fastens with a LATCH system that secures it without relying on in-car seatbelts and shoulder harnesses. You simply attach the carrier to the base and you are ready to head out.
There is an indicator on the base which shows green if the car seat is attached properly, but at times the release mechanism can be a little finicky. You might have to mess with it a little to get it to unlock.
The maximum recommended child weight for the Penguin is 22 pounds, so it is for use with infants only. You will need to purchase a different product for children weighing more than 22 pounds.
The Maxi-Cosi carrier weighs less than nine pounds so it is not very difficult to carry around.
